  • Odd Birds

    Director Veera Lamminpää
    Producers/Production Company
Janne J. Vanhanen & Jenni Pulli / Rata Motion

Taxidermied birds burst into song in this poetic, darkly comic stop-motion musical. From their display case in a Finnish school, they reflect on the pecking order, belonging, and the rule of the strongest. The birds’ song draws strange parallels between the laws of nature and the unwritten rules of school life. The film addresses serious themes, loneliness, bullying and insecurities, with a surreal twist. Finally, the music ends on a hopeful note: we are all enough as we are – even the odd birds.
